First established by the Germans at the end of 1917. They flew fighters from the unprepared grass field.
This particular photograph was taken 13th October 1953 by a Meteor FR9 of No. 2 Sqd. based at Wahn, Germany. In front of the hangars are Meteor F8’s and an Airspeed Oxford.
The modern day photograph below shows the original 3 hangars still standing.
