At present and without antitrust immunity, the airlines are at a massive disadvantage when attempting to compete on routes with member airlines of the Star and SkyTeam Alliances.' The situation has become ‘worse for the European consumer’ since most airlines are members of either Star Alliance and SkyTeam. ‘Therefore, having a 3rd strong transatlantic alliance will vastly improve choices for the European consumers.'
Don't BA have more flights across the Atlantic than any other carrier, by some distance? Add AA and IB and they pretty much head straight to the top of that trio list!
