Canadian PPL to continue to CPL Multi/IR or Go south of Border for JAA Training?
I am a Canadian PPL, With a student line of credit for the rest of my training. Currently just about to finish my Night rating. I have just over 100 hours.
I'm just writing in the hope to get a response from both sides of the employment fence (Canadian Commercial Pilots and British Commercial Pilots)
My original plan has been to Stay in Canada, as I have dual citizenship, complete my Candian Commercial, Multi/IFR in the next 6 months and start looking for jobs in the north- working the ramp or dispatch.
I've recently wondered whether i should be careful right now, maybe think of the option of taking my money state side and obtaining my CPL/Multiir/ATPLs (JAA) at an American Flightschool.
My questions, Baring in mind where my flight training is at the moment...How much would i be looking to spend on the rest of it if i were to consider this? Is it worth it?
When i say is it worth it, Is it worth it because in the UK i have the option of gettin my frozen ATPL soon so i can look for a job flying for the airlines earning more money vs if i were to stay in canada, I'd be initially looking at a few years flying singles (c-206) or the like with pretty poor pay with large overheads.
UK frozen ATPL's...having got your training done - How is the job market? Do you also having completed your frozern ATPL's have to go flying VFR singles for a while before?
I'd appreciate the pessimists stay away from replying, Also, people who do not have there PPL's...I'm hopefully after some educated realistic responses from people RECENTLY in this position...
