The memory dims but I seem to remember that at the time GEC awarded a 30 year long service award which took the form of a gold watch. GEC and English Electric merged in 1968, so it would appear that our K.G.R had a combined service with the two companies.
If he started out life with EE, he was one of the lucky ones as the merger led to 12,000 redundancies. Weinstock took no prisoners.
