Gloucester shopping is pretty downmarket but there is a new "designer outlet" recently opened that is a reasonable destination for bored lady passengers (well, my mother approved
). It adjoins the docks complex and is not too big - good for a couple of hours max if you are flying in for a day trip.
The cathedral is 10 minutes walk away and always good for kids who want to see where parts of Harry Potter were filmed.
