Hi guys. Hope you don't mind me posting for the first time on this thread, but I used to do this sort of thing twenty odd years ago, mostly out of West Africa.
Many good ideas about the route, but so much depends on time of year, total trip time allowance, your sense of adventure etc.
My experiences would have me depart Mumbai for Doha.From there you have a decision: is weather over KSA ok? if so, head for Cairo. If not, and you have the stomach for it, head for Adana,Turkey. Adana crews are used to dealing with Yanks because of Incirlik nearby. If you take this northern route, follow Max Torque's advice for Brindisi to Germany etc.
If you went to Egypt, next stop should be Valletta, Malta. Great people and worth the stop. I was back in May, folks there remember you from decades ago!
Departing Malta, I head to Toulouse. Again, great stop-over.
Rest is straightforward:Prestwick,Keflavík,Narsarsuaq, Goose Bay, Bangor
