I realise no hiring at the moment, but historically, how have pilots been selected for the different fleets (excluding the LTU pilots who were already flying Airbus and DBA pilots who flew 737s)? Have newhires been required to have a type rating before starting? Have pilots been able to request Boeing or Airbus or has that been a function of
- previous type rating and experience
- aircraft availability at a specific base
- vacancy at the time of hiring?
Is one fleet (Boeing vs. Airbus shorthaul) considered more preferrable than the other due to schedules, route variety, etc.? Do you see many people switching from one fleet to the other or do you basically sit on your aircraft type?
