Thanks for the replies so far, it would appear that the figures indicate a difference if you work for a low cost airline as opposed to a National/Regional one. I had an interesting email come through from one TRE who quoted:

" ...One wouldn't go to an accountant to get a tax return, or a dentist for surgery, or a lawyer for representation and expect to pay anything less than industry standard. Furthermore, if you did and they were willing to accept less, you would need to carefully consider the quality of that service!"

I wonder what the CAA/FAA/JAA would think if they found out that trainers were being selected [by certain airlines] for their willingness to accept low remuneration, rather than their actual ability?
