I was recently confirmed on Delta from RSW/ATL/LGW and then onward to AGP. When I arrived at check-in in RSW my bags went down the belt, and I was issued my boarding passes for RSW/ATL/CDG. Not wanting anything to do with France if I can help it, I told the agent I wasn't going thru France, but via LGW. They said there was a mistake in my routing, and what did it matter which way I went as long as I got there?
Not their business, but to me it matters. Anyway, I refused to travel, but in order to not delay their all ready late flight, my bags went to Atlanta without me on my original flight.
After I got things worked out my way with Delta, I arrived in Malaga and my bags came a day later via Madrid and Iberia, a carrier I wasn't even associated with on this trip.
When I questioned the security, the reply was "We have procedures and have determined that you are not a threat."
Obvivously anyone with this little bit of knowledge could figure out how to do some real damage.
Go figure.
