Hahn is not a big airport, at least from the commercial passenger standpoint. The departure and arrival halls are on the same floor and effectively part of one open plan building.

If you have checked baggage, you will need to collect it, before checking it in again (making a 1 hour connection really rather short). If you do not have checked baggage and your inbound flight arrives on time, you should make the connection provided have already checked in online for the 2nd flight and have the boarding card printout to hand, walk quickly and don't get stuck in any long queues - planes land pretty near to gates, and it's not far to walk from gate to main terminal area, to security and back to a gate again. On your flight to Hahn, it may be worth choosing a seat as near as possible to the front of the plane to ensure you can get be first down the steps and thus at the front of the immigration queue at arrivals, saving you a few extra minutes.

Not only do arrivals from outside the Schengen area need to clear German immigration, but passengers departing Hahn for somewhere outside the Schengen area also need to clear immigration to exit Germany- there are only 2 desks for this, and it can take time to clear a big queue of people.

Furthermore, the Ryanair desks at Hahn each have a highlighted page taped to the desk explaining that Ryanair doesn't offer formal connections and if the inbound is late, then it's your problem. This suggests that more than one person in the past has found themselves with a missed connection at Hahn, and Ryanair staff unwilling or unable to help.
