Putting aside the OIL argument and thinking of it from a slightly different angle :
Money is sadly what rules this world in most cases, it is the worship of our times especially when times are bad and everything is up for sale !!
The region is a gold mine for most manufacturing lobbies in the west.
This fact will surely make the super powers think seriously before committing to a military campaign against Iran.
All other means failing, the eventual outcome will be for the region to finance the war directly or indirectly. The Kuwait experience is not too old for most of us to remember. Today they are the most modest nation in terms of spending in general, although their war was one of necessity and not choice.
It may be a war of necessity for Israel, but a war of choice for most countries in the region. if it happens, will lead to some serious impoverishment in the whole region
just like a nuclear weapon effect.
