Every picture tells a story and this is a sad one.
After battling the Portuguese Authorities for 2 years or so the young German guy who brought the Connie to Faro (I'm not sure where it came From) finally got it up and running as a Bar/Restarante only to be told that a new Terminal was to be built and that his Business would be too close to it. I know the Airport Director Carlos Cruzinho was keen that it should remain on the airport as it was once on the TAP fleet and the only survivor. A suitable alternative site was offered within the Airport boundary but somewhat arrogantly the owner refused to move. In the end the offer was withdrawn and he was forced to relocate anyway. The picture below shows the Connie's ultimate demise in a field on the south side of the N125 having been seriously vanadalised. The writing on the side offers a 100,000 escudos reward for information leading to the ethnic vandals who destroyed the interior.
