Don't forget to allow for altimeter lag if you are daft enough to do a prolonged spin, someone I know decided to see how many turns he could get in from 10,000'. He started the recovery at what he thought was going to recover by 3,000', but by the time the altimeter caught up with the aircraft at the end of the spin the ground was a LOT closer than he expected!
