The same thing went on at Dunsfold; Hawk pilots did take people for 'rides' whenever possible, though as a lot of flying was in 'Test' mode suitable flights didn't come up that often.
As you say, these rides - and just the thought of them - gave a lot of positive input to the workforce, a win / win situation.
