Well, you aren't going to get a more democratic Pprune! Remember this is a private website, not a public facility. It's owned by Capt Pprune, and it's his benevolent despotic autocracy that has the last (and first) word on how the site is run.

An organism the size of Pprune (48000 members) would descend into chaos and anarchy if there was not strong leadership and control of the site - as we have seen only recently on this forum. The moderators are chosen by the administration because they have shown the qualities, as Ppruners, that Capt Pprune wishes to perpetuate in the running of the site. Democracy only works well when it selects a leadership and then lets that leadership get on with leading, and accepts the decisions that leadership makes. Democracies that debate every decision tend to be weak and ineffectual. As the leadership positions are not, and will not be, up for grabs, democracy has no place here.

In otherwords, like it or lump it! (Sorry!)
