I made what in retrospect was a mistake in buying FlyMap with the FlyAngel, which is the renamed and rebadged Road Angel 7000. The hardware is very good and I have used it on the road with no problem. It is very good in the air and I use it flying a Chipmunk with it strapped to my leg: it sits there and is small enough not to interfere with the stick. But .... the UK agent seems to have disappeared from the scene and the German parent company will not commit to when the charts will be further updated, if at all. If Memory Map will load on the 7000 unit than this seems to be the answer to my problem and it seems much cheaper than the £750 for the FlyMap system. Having said all that, updating is arguably less important on something which backs up the paper chart though I do find myself looking at the unit in preference to the chart, which is not exactly manageable in the front of the Chippy.
