I always believed that under the JAR system there were
actually fewer people training for PPLs and subsequently ATPLs due to the higher costs, compared to the old national system.
Scroggs, I agree about there being other professions where there are more candidates than jobs but can you name another profession where the high-school dumbo or dropout can train along side someone whos read astrophysics at Cambridge? In any other profession you need some sort of educational achievement even before you gain entry into that profession. Being an airline pilot it would appear is more a matter of money!!
