I don't agree with wearing eppaulettes anyway. They are part of the trimmings often worn by self important w*nkers (no disrespect intended to any pilots required to wear eppaulettes who are reasonable people, I am sure yourself included).
BUT...
the school I trained at had one bar for G3's, two for G2's, three for G1's and the CFI/CP wore four. However, the school down the road had a completely different system, with the students wearing one bar, the grade 2s and 3s two bars and the grade 1s three bars. Seems it's just up to the company you're with. I had an interview with a charter operator who didn't have their pilots wear any bars. That's the way I like it.
