I was wondering whether the end of the LHR service will increase chances of some of the LCY frequencies being re-instated? Now that VLM has joined air France / KLM / Cityjet, LCY offers quite a few connections whereas the useful connections BA can offer at LGW become fewer and fewer.

You are absolutely right. I have never looked at it from this angle. The Channel Islands were out of reach for most Germans in the past cost-wise because of the high cost of holidaying there in general and the strong GBP in particular. So the current crisis might open up some new markets. Another surge might come from the language school market as sending kids to the C.I. will become more affordable compared to places like Malta.
