December pax up! year up!

Part quote from the bhx website

"Birmingham International Airport had another record month in December, following November’s record. A total of 598,123 passengers travelled through Birmingham, taking advantage of the great routes it has to offer. There were 508,397 scheduled passengers and 89,726 charter passengers during December. This is an increase of 1.7%, making it the 8th record month during the last 12 month.
It was a record calendar year for Birmingham Airport as well, with an increase of 4.4% on passenger numbers over 2007 - with a total of 9,634,734 passengers travelling through. The previous record year was in 2005 which saw a total of 9,388,849 passengers pass through the Airport."

End of quote.

As for Ryanair, they have expanded quickly will good loads early on followed by some really indifferent ones (as well as not charging much).

They probably need to revisit their route profile from bhx although as it has been said many times they do need to avoid clashing with some of the EMA routes. Otherwise CIA, BGY, SXF would be operating now rather than some of the current ones.

I am surprised at no Venice and Madrid as there is only easyjet at EMA on the former and no competition on the latter in the Midlands.

The last check I made, Ryanair need five aircraft based on at least four days from April but a cancelled route here and some retimings there and four could be accommodated easy. The rumour of four based this summer is pretty compelling but it is ryanair remember and things change fast.
