Storm clouds at Servisair DUB
Storm clouds are building again at DUB.
Management and SIPTU union have both issued letters to staff today after a meeting yesterday broke up without agreement on any of the points that were raised.
A ballot on future action has been called for next week, and the tone of the letters from both sides seems to suggest that another disruptive confrontation is possible. There are outstanding issues from the dispute at the end of last year, and a number of new issues that have been raised.
The present disagreement centres around the termination of the 4 on 2 off roster that was part of a company/union agreement some years ago. The company wishes to replace it with a roster that includes a period 17 days that goes 5 on 1 off 5 on 1 off 5 on.
There are other issues as well, but the present posturing and sabre rattling by both sides suggests that another damaging confrontation is looming.
