The "paperwork" left behind was in fact the Jeppesen chart library. J* pilots are required to buy and maintain their own jepps for the domestic operation. When it comes to the international sectors they are supposed to uplift the library from the departure port ( ie the ground agent is supposed to bring them onto the aircraft) . This apparently cuts costs as the company doesnt have to buy and maintain sufficient jepps to keep two sets onboard the couple of aircraft that fly the international sectors. I bet the accountants didnt factor in the cost of a return, including the fuel wasted to reduce to max landing weight ( 7 t was the figure I heard ), not to mention the bad press and missed connections of the QF and BA code share pax!
