Flying Bean. Nothing to stop you bringing your Van to Oz for a private tour, but you won't be able to operate commercial without a discrete AOC being issued by CASA.

In Australia, commercially (on the Oz register) your Van (with US FAA certification) would be a nine seat single engine, VFR charter aircraft. There are around 30 C208/C208B's in Australia - I think only one C208B had US FAA certification and believe that aircraft has now left Australia.

C208s and C208B's with UK CAA certification may be approved for single turbine engine IFR charter and RPT operations, subject to being suitably equipped and the operator and pilot being suitably approved. Not sure any C208/C208B's are currently operating RPT, but in the past they have very successfully conducted RPT operations in North Queensland (Cairns and the Torres Strait) and Darwin.

Charter rates for C208/C208B are (or should be) around Aus$1,000 to Aus$1,300 per hour.

Indeed, an all time great aircraft - even Gaunty and nasa must agree!

(Edited to force nasa to agree the C208 is a great aircraft.
Sorry nasa - I forgot CYA's C208 is still operating RPT on the Cape York mail services.)
