Alright, for all of you with axes to grind concerning Teamsters response to the Kalitta accident in Bogata, the local president and attorney flew down the next day, and was on site until it was obvious that his services were no longer needed. The stateside office did what they could to help. Problems were encountered, but it speaks volumes that the Teamsters beat the NTSB to the scene, and were better set up to communicate. (The NTSB only had one worldphone, apparantly).

While we are on the subject, ALPA made their CIRP availible to all involved, as Kalitta was still developing their program at the time.

Everyone involved probably could have done better, but it was an extremely difficult situation.

I hope, when it comes to safety, pilots will always pull together for the common good, regardless of union, airline or nationality. Rather optomistic to be sure, but it worked pretty well in Bogota.

Please do not ever use this tragedy again to plug a personal agenda.
