I recall the 717s holding pattern managment was not that accurate, and that it did not cope well with anti ice on in "PROF" on descent.
Fingertrouble, I suspect! Put that man on a A380!

No problems there. Provided that you didn't want it to make a 5 minute pattern at FL350 with 150kts of crosswind. Basic aerodynamics dictates that it cannot be done by anything doing a reasonable speed. If EAI On is toggled PRIOR to TOPD, no problem either. I suspect that your A380 couldn't do a pattern any tigher than a 717, and if it can cope with late notice EAIon, then it's carrying too much power in the Off case. Poor airconditioning system?!
