So the A380 does nothing much more that what a 717 does - flies any approach (using FMS if required) down a 3° slope to whatever height you set it to/let it go to. The rest may be helpful and improve safety, especially if you do not know how to use a radar to work out what's in front before the IAF or monitor a NPA vertical profile - but the basics of flight path management and control ie what the aeroplane can actually do, is the same. I assume it can do RNAV/RNP approaches? That is one thing the 717 will not do at the mo.
More advanced? Yes. Way more advanced? Not sure about that.
