Not connected but online?

Hi,

The problem is that when i go into the "view all available wireless networks" it says that i am not connected to the network but only gives me the option of disconnecting. The computer sign in the right hand bottom corner of the screen has a red X across it. As it says that i am not connected i can still surf the net and progammes can still access the internet too.

Is this a problem?
How do i fix it?

Computer run down:

Manufacturer - Evesham
Model - AWRDACPI
OS - Windows XP Home (SP 3)
Wireless card - Belkin 802.11g Wireless Car PCI
Router - Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO router

Any help would be usefull.

**UPDATE**

We have another computer on the network, works fine.
It was working well until recently but all that we changed was the security from WPA2 to WEP so that the other computer could connect.
Looking through the Device Manage profile, i have a 1394 Net Adapter connected but i have previously tried disabling it and have still had no success. Unfortunately the wireless is the only way i have of connecting to the internet.
