In defense of EAM I have to say that Lufthansa employes pilots from many nationalities, and many of them donīt speak fluent german, incl. pilots from Spain, Holland, Switzerland, Austria (donīt try to argue that they speak German, as for us they donīt).
Anyway, as I see it, it is up to the airline to decide what standards they want to apply.
