True, but Audacity is much nicer to use, especially if you want to do any amount of editing or processing of the audio. You need to download an extra bit (LAME MP3 Encoder) from there if you want to create MP3 files.

Depending on your computer hardware and drivers, you may already have a recording source called "Stereo Mix" or similar. If you select that as the recording source (in the recording app you use), it taps in to whatever other applications (including web browsers) are sending to the speakers. If not, you'll need one of those extra programs like "Streaming Audio Recorder" or "Total Recorder" as already described.
