DD,
The actual danger of collision I accept is debatable, my real annoyance is the high level of noise produced which is a danger to the hearing of my crew and I, as well as passengers boarding or disembarking on adjoining stands. This I witness regularly in Aberdeen.
I don't blame Eastern, as it saves them the cost of a push back. The BAA should be proactive in minimizing noise levels, but their priorities in Aberdeen are maximizing revenue. They are preoccupied in finding out where they can get another retail outlet, or another "huge corridor blocking ice cream vending machine". It's all about ££££££££££'s ! The poor old passenger, after waiting in cramped corridors in Aberdeen, is then exposed to aircraft noise which is only exceeded by the volume of the continuous deafening PA's which ring through these buildings!!
One of these days we need to start a thread on the management of this airport !
