Why is according to you the system class 2? according to leaflet 36 it says:
Class 2 EFB systems are:
· Generally COTS-based computer systems used for aircraft operations,
· Portable,
· Connect to aircraft power through a certified power source,
· Connected to an aircraft mounting device during normal operations,
· Considered as a controlled PED,
· Connectivity to Avionics is possible,
· Class 2 EFB systems require airworthiness approval as described in Section 6.
COTS is commersial sold of the shelf (think laptops pda's etc)
point 2, the IFIS-5000 isnt portable

The IFIS-5000 system is a part of the (build in) Rockwell Collins proline 21 EFIS system so i would say it class 3

Altough i'm not sure if this would make certifiaction easer i guess it would be considdered a part of the aircraft and would technically already be certified. wouldnt it?
