You can do a type course without being licensed but it would probably pay to get all basic B2 module stuff done first. See the link below regarding proposed changes to type course validity next year..

As for being green to our UKCAA, I think most of us are.
(I am still after a decade..).. Variable & inconsistently applied processes..
