Don't know about jobs but try asking the UK CAA if they would give you a JAA medical with your history. I guess you'd also need a JAA licence - I don't know what's involved in 'transferring', it's not really my area.
But the medical will be the first thing to clarify and, in my experience, the bods in the CAA are very helpful - you may not get the answer you want but I'm sure they'll take the trouble to try and give you an answer.
