I was surprised to hear Cairo volmet recently.I don't think it has worked for years.Does it broadcast on a schedule, rather than on a loop? The local authorities need to publicise the volmet being operational and this would cut down a lot of the calls requesting weather.
The sectors seem to be very large with controllers covering the northern fir boundary all the way down to Luxor.Route clearances given are invariably flight plan route but this phraseology is not used.
Sharmelsheik would ease their arrival stream if they routed all their arrivals down the coast and into a left base rather than send us all over the significant lumps of granite!
