Right then,one is prunning on next doors puter as we speak,the sound chip worked unbidden so XP must have drivers forrit as norm,did have to remove the modem and bung in a motorolla one that was in me box of bits,loaded the motorolla drivers and bobs yer thingy,things have gone to well.
The only real problem I had was figuring out the topological puzzle one has to solve before one can get at the old had disk,ie removing the plastic front without wrecking the bloody case,these bastards obviously don't like civilians messing with their kit.
Anyway all done and dusted thanks for the help.
Gonna dowload the nvidia drivers from the HP site now.
