Fly747
Good one KGL. How far below were you? Did they warn you?
I would have considered flying an offset, maybe a risk of engine surge if you ingest fuel. Perhaps you did offset, it would be interesting to know more.
First an answer to your first question Fly747: I was at least 33,000 feet below and at least 1,300 km to the north northwest.
The photo was taken 12:23 as the Emirates A380 passed above westbound on UL984 and was published on a Polish aviation forum. In other words the photo was taken from the ground - and no danger for engine surge or chemical pneumonia for the photographer. For those of you in the sharp end, remember to smile even at cruise altitude - you can be taken photo of.
I limit my self to take photos of parked aircraft, taxiing aircraft, aircraft taking off, aircraft on short final or landing and sometime I even get photo of a captain showing he's an anorak
Of course the aircraft the captain took a photo was the Concorde at Manchester Airport. And yes, he did make a full stop on taxiway Alpha before shooting G-BOAC.
