The Facts From an Ex Comedian sitting next to me)
Platinum staff are all paid up to date and are not owed any wages. No aircraft are impounded for any unpaid bills. They do not or have not got on lease any J41's. The ex cheif pilot assures me that the figure owed to him was nearer to £8000 than the £5000 stated. All Platinum staff are happy. The customers are happy with an airline that runs on time and is reliable and airworthy. The handling agents think it's a dream come true, and the reservations have no problems or complaints. Platinum work to a quality, not down to a minimum price. If you pay substandard prices you expect a substandard service. The demise of the previous operator was thinking cash flow cured everthing but saved nothing for the essentials e.g. the requirements of FM immunity which would have allowed him to operate from Jan 01 without hiring in outside operators. Even the CAA warned them Dec 31st was the deadline, but RM said he could fly VFR instead. The comparison of Platinum's figures to Comed's for June is unrealistic, how many did Comed carry in June of their first year of operation? On a Chieftain!! (50? Ask Ronaldsway for stats) For the sake of the general travelling public, lets hope Platinum keep up the good work. Should RM's rumours come to fruition let's pray that another quality carrier takes over the routes. If RM does restart has he got the resources to refund or carry for free all the unfortunate people who lost out before or will he turn a blind eye to this as he has
done with his flying school. For the record the Island rotation route on Platinum is full most mornings and nights.
