Buying your own typerating, will not only hurt your pocketbook, but also for the other pilots who are struggeling to climb the ladder to get real paying jobs... I also think companies apprichiate more operational skills gained by flying smaller airplanes, rather straight from flightschool and own self finansed typerating.
"more money than brain" if you ask me...
