A friend of mine applied. He was not offered even an interview because of his belgian nationality. French is his first language though. It's not a matter of fluency, it's a matter of supply and demand. Aircalin doesn't feel the need to look for European applicants as the newcomers (between 0 and 5 a year !) will be chosen among hundreds of french resumes.
After all Air New Zealand is not offering positions to foreign nationals unless they hold permanent New Zealand Residency Permit. Is that an issue ? No, that's just the way it is.
