When you have a company that offers or can offer several daily rotations, all well and fine. But if the economy starts to go tits up, and the fuel price goes through the roof, then the commercial reasons should be pretty obvious why some of these rotations get cancelled.

Not at the last minute, but in a planned and managable way so customers (usually not very many on the chosen sectors) can be re-booked onto the remaining ones.

Any company that doesn't do this, and still flies all the rotations a quarter full will find itself joining the list of airlines lost very quickly indeed.

I'd have thought this obvious way of protecting yourself from the fallout of the increasing costs we all face would be more widespread across the industry, but perhaps it will be as the belts tighten across the industry as a whole.
