The ex ASL captains have joined at the bottom of the seniority list. If you joined before them, then you will be eligible for a passenger command before they are. I originally joined Cathay on a freighter base and it never ceases to amaze me how ignorant some new joiners are to this whole ASL thing.
If you were here back in the mid nineties, then yes, ASL definitely delayed your command by a number of years and you have every right to feel aggrieved . But the company introduced ASL and the pilot group were unable to prevent it. Every time someone flames a fellow pilot, then he plays into the companies hand and helps further the "divide and conquer" policy.
As a group, we often go into self destruct mode and turn on ourselves. We are all guilty of allowing B scale, ASL, 49er's, C scale, COS 08 to happen. The list goes on.
I flew with many ASL chaps over the years and found them to be quite normal ! Now fire away...........
