Email re Houston and Mauritius flights extended layover!

You will be aware that the Houston flight is the longest flight that we currently operate. Prior to commencing this route, significant analysis was done around the trip pattern and as a result the layover was set at 24 hours.

We have now been flying this route for six months and through Voyage Reports, Safety Reports and the Employee Opinion Survey you have told us a clear and simple message – that you actually find this trip more tiring than anticipated. I am very pleased to confirm that that we have listened to your feedback and that with effect from 1 June 2008, the Houston pairing will become a 48-hour layover.

As we were reviewing Houston, we also took the opportunity to review similar issues across the network. During this, we identified a concern regarding the quality of rest on Mauritius trips. As a result, with effect from 1 July 2008, when the B777 aircraft will operate all flights on this route, the layover will be increased to 36 hours.
