When I last spoke to John he was looking forward to his retirement so that he could devote more time to other activities that had taken a distant second place to aviation. In his last year as Tasair CP he had vacated the CFI role as the RPT side of the business was taking more and more of his time.
He is a much respected figure in Tassie aviation circles who has helped many people on their path to an airline career.
