I agrre but i dont think its jealousy, yes of course people would like to be able to afford not just £60k+ for the course but also to be able to take all that time off work. However The reason many people cant do this is because they have family, mortgage, their own business etc. Just because they cannot commit to a full time course doesnt mean they are jealous. Alot of modular guys are on the property ladder, how many integrated guys will be able to save a deposit once they get a job and are paying back the huge loan. Some have businesses that will continue to run alongside the flying job once they qualify. As for family im sure no-one regrets that. The idea that alot of integrated guys have, that all modular students are jealous could not be further from the truth. As for being jealous of someone who has got themselves in £70k of debt.
We are not talking here though about the guys who are lucky enough to afford it or who have saved up the money to pay for it. We are talking about the people willing to get huge loans to finance their training when they could get the same licence for less than half the price. (Yes less than half when you factor in the interest they will pay on their loan)
I also think that if someone has gone integrated and paid more money, on the basis that an airline has told them they prefer integrated students. They should then not complain about someone paying for a type rating on the basis that an airline has said they prefer this. There is no difference. Pay more if you think that gives you a better chance of a job, but dont then put down anyone else for doing exactly the same thing.
