Signed with pride. My father too was a pilot on Stirlings and apart from dropping bombs (and mines) towed gliders across the Rhine and also to Norway.
Some ops involved dropping supplies to SOE agents in Denmark and other occupied countries. He is still alive and I would love to see him collect a medal for what he did then though being in 38 Group he may not have been in Bomber Command.
He is 85 though and like many of is generation won't be around for ever, so the PM needs to pull his digit out.....
