Thread drift, but Humberside police have an interesting version.
After 30 years you leave the police and qualify for your pension. After one day you rejoin. You are now back on full play plus pension. Whereas in the services, once you reach that magic pension point, say 38, your pay automatically drops about £20k compared with yr 37 year old colleague.
Anyway the police one came to light when it was realised they had not been sworn in so were not real police.
Now if that had been JPA they would have claimed back all the pay since you hadn't signed on again.
Why cant the services give a signing on bounty?
