isn't really fair. How many people
who aren't aviation enthusiasts or have some link to the industry would know Adam Air is a shambles? I wouldn't have known from the media. I almost certainly wouldn't have trawled the internet looking up accident statistics prior to booking - I don't for any other form of transport after all.
I would imagine "the majority of people" simply assume that if an airline is allowed to fly at all it reaches certain standards re: training & safety. (Not necessarily true I know, but not an unreasonable assumption for Joe Bloggs).
