It's just occured to me, do pax have to vacate the aircraft and go through immigration at Bangor during a fuel stop nowadays. Did this about 20 years ago. Plane load of holidaymakers trooping through a one man security operation.
Don't know what flight you were on but you must have been unlucky, I have transited through BGR many times in with numerous UK charter airlines in late 80's & early 90's. All stops required a madatory deplane whilst refuel in progress, always dumped in a transit lounge for c. 45min - 1 Hour then back on board & off ! Incidentally also same situation was experienced at Gander.
