Aberdeen Airport has received an award for achieving the best improvement of all of the world's hubs in 2007. The Airports Council International (ACI) named the Scottish airport the most improved hub in its 2007 service quality awards.
Over 200,000 passenger surveys formed the basis for the awards, covering every aspect of airport operations from check-in to departure. The 'most improved' title goes to the airport which has experienced the biggest improvement in overall customer satisfaction results.
Aberdeen Airport managing director Kevin Brown said: ‘This is a huge honour. Our airport has been picked out from an amazing line-up of fantastic airports worldwide.'
‘We have invested millions to bring the airport up to the high standards our customers rightly expect and deserve. Much work is still to be done, but I am particularly pleased and honoured to see our efforts have clearly been recognised and appreciated by those flying to and from Aberdeen Airport.’
Southampton Airport also performed well, receiving the 'airport people award' – which recognises customer service and courtesy – for the Europe region and was also named the fifth best airport in Europe.
According to ACI, the best air travel hub in the world last year was Seoul's Incheon International Airport, with Kuala Lumpur International Airport second and Singapore Changi in third place. Oporto was named the best airport in Europe.
