Actually there is possibly some truth in this rumour.
If the clock starts ticking now, then 10 years from now, and given the current rates of UAE inflation, and assuming EK continues to make some profit and the Dollar/Dirham continue their decline - then a 4 week bonus will be about US$ 1,000,000.
Look at Zimbabwe - 1 US Dollar today is worth 10,000,000,000 of the Zim dollar 10 years ago. Who would have believed 10 years ago that a USD hidden under a matress would buy Ten Billion (Yes thats correct) zim dollars today.
